The team of 22 Springboks to play the All Blacks in Soweto has seven Old Boys of Grey College in Bloemfontein. And yet it is not a record!
The Old Greys for Saturday's South African team: Johan Goosen, Ruan Pienaar, Jannie du Plessis, Adriaan Strauss, Tiaan Liebenberg, Coenie Oosthuizen and Flip van der Merwe. That is remarkable and yet it's not a record.
Statistician Eddie Grieb has pointed out that there were eight Old Greys who played for South Africa against Scotland in 2010 - Frans Steyn, Ruan Pienaar, Deon Stegmann, Flip van der Merwe, Jannie du Plessis, Bismarck du Plessis, Adriaan Strauss and CJ van der Linde.
