Stormers v Chiefs Betting Preview

The Stormers missed out on playing the Chiefs in 2012 due to the Super Rugby draw so they have not played each other since May 2011.

The last time the Chiefs visited Newlands in Cape Town was in May 2009 and they left as 14-28 winners but out of the last five matches between the teams the Stormers have won three and the Chiefs two.

Home advantage doesn't appear to affect either team as they have both won away from home over the last decade.

Since 1998 the Stormers have played the Chiefs 14 times and the Stormers have won 8 times or 57% of their matches against the Chiefs. There have been no draws.

When the Stormers play the Chiefs the average score is Stormers 26 Chiefs 24. However in Cape Town where this match will be played the average score drops to Stormers 23 Chiefs 21.

The Stormers have only hosted the Chiefs six times in Super Rugby since 1999 and they have 4 matches or 67 % of their matches. The Chiefs have therefore only won twice in Cape Town.

The Stormers have opted to stick with Elton Jantjies for this match but they have taken the kicking duties away from him so that he can concentrate on his game.

Jantjies' form has been a big concern for the Stormers but coach Coetzee says that Peter Grant is not quite ready to start.

The Chiefs on the other hand have rotated their squad and brought first choice players back in for this week. They beat the Cheetahs 45-3 last week.

In terms of form the Chiefs are unbeaten this season while the Stormers have yet to win a match.

The Bookies have given the Stormers a 6 point start for this Match. We think the Stormers haven't found their game yet while the Chiefs have. Chiefs to win by 7.

This Match will be shown on TV in NZ, Aus, SA and in the UK on Sky Sports Website.
