The rumour mill has gone into overdrive, following the revelation that Johann Sadie wants out of his Bulls contract. However, officials have remained tightlipped about the exciting young centre's future. The latest rumour has it that he will remain with the Bulls for the Currie Cup competition and then join the Cheetahs for next year's Super Rugby competition. He has also been linked to the national Sevens team.Sadie, who has burst onto the scene with the Stormers and Western Province last year, signed with the Bulls for 2012.
However, a number of injury setbacks have limited his playing time and allowed fellow off-season recruit and former Stormers teammate JJ Engelbrecht to move ahead of him in the midfield pecking order in Pretoria.
This prompted Sadie to ask that he be released from his Bulls contract and look for alternative employment.
According to Volksblad newspaper Sadie has already agreed to become a Cheetah.
However, it appears the Bulls will only release him after the completion of this year's Currie Cup competition.
Another media outlet, national pay television channel SuperSport, reports that Sadie may link up with Paul Treu's national Sevens team in November and December and then move to his new provincial team.
According to the TV station's website the Cheetahs are the player's preferred option, but his asking price of ZAR1.4-million is out of their reach.
As a result he will become a member of the national Sevens squad for part of their RB World Series campaign and then join up with the Cheetahs. That will ensure his combined income will be on par with what he is demanding.
Neither the Bulls management not the Cheetahs were prepared to comment on the latest reports, following the initial revelation that he has been given permission by the Bulls to look at "alternative options". Source: Rugby365
