The Golden Lions Rugby Union (GLRU) have boldly suspended coach John Mitchell with immediate effect.
GLRU president Kevin de Klerk on Friday confirmed that the former All Black coach has been suspended following a player revolt, lead by captain Josh Strauss, due to the “unreasonable” manner in which Mitchell was treating them.
"The nature of the (players') complaints is so serious that we have suspended him (Mitchell), pending further investigation," De Klerk told Rugby365.
Mitchell's assistants, Carlos Spencer and Johan Ackermann, will take the reins for the remainder of the Super Rugby competition, which resumes next weekend.
